Neuronal Base Medium AD is an optimized base medium with neuronal-specific trace elements but without L-glutamine (must be supplemented).

• For long-term growth and viability of rat postnatal hippocampal neurons
• For cultivation of rat postnatal and cortical neurons
• For growth of tumor cell lines of neuronal origin

For applications where serum is necessary, start with 5 % serum in Neuronal Base Medium AD. Cell culture vessels must be coated with poly-D-lysine (0.05 mg/ml). Prior to use, Neuronal Base Medium AD must be supplemented with 0.5 mM L- glutamine.

• For serum-free cultivation Neuronal Base Medium AD must be supplemented with the appropriate growth factors:
• For long-term growth and viability of rat postnatal hippocampal neurons, cultivation of rat postnatal and cortical neurons add NeuroMix (50x) and G5 Supplement (100x) to Neuronal Base Medium AD at a final concentration of 1x .
• For growth of tumor cell lines of neuronal origin add NeuroMix (50x) or N2 Supplement (100x) to Neuronal Base Medium AD at a final concentration of 1x .
• If serum must be used the concentration can vary between 2-5%.

Supplements are offered as 50 fold or 100 fold concentrate. Add the supplements according to the application to the base medium. Dilute NeuroMix (50x) into the Neuronal Base Medium AD 1:50. The final concentration of NeuroMix corresponds to 1x. For preparation of 100 ml medium add 2ml NeuroMix (50x) to 98 ml Neuronal Base Medium AD.

Neuronal Base Medium AD has a shelf life of 18 months when stored at +2°C to +8°C.
