Tumour cells have several advantages for long-term cultivation because they are potentially immortal. Tumour cells are ideal as a model for the investigation of the cell cycle and regulation on a molecular biolo­gical level. Quantum 263 is a newly formulated basal medium with an optimized mixture of trace elements and selected serum components. Added to this is an important synthetic iron-binding molecule which facilitates the transport of iron ions into the cell.
