Classical basal media are not optimized for cultivation of neurons. Some components such as asparagine and aspartic acid can inhibit growth of neuronal cells. Withdrawal of inhibitory factors led to the development of Neuronal Base Medium AD (adult) with optimal growth properties for long term cultivation of adult neurons of the Central Nervous System (CNS) and Peripheral Nervous System (PNS).
PAA’s Neuronal Base Medium AD is formulated to meet the specific requirements of adult neurons. In combination with B27 NeuroMix this medium allows growth of neuronal cells without the need of astrocyte feeder cells.
Application
Neuronal Base Medium AD is an optimized medium for adult neurons. The specific components reduce overgrowth of glial cells. Only under glia-free conditions reliable results can be provided.
Composition
Neuronal Base Medium AD is based on the successful Neuronal Base Medium containing additional salts leading to a higher osmolality. Furthermore it contains vitamins, trace elements and amino acids which are optimized for growth of adult neurons.
