Cat. No. Volume
MethoStem Medium with L-Glutamine U11-827 100 ml

General

Methylcellulose based media are used for the cultivation of hematopoietic and embryonic stem cells and their progenitors. As a gelling agent methylcellulose increases the viscosity of the medium. Addition of methylcellulose promotes optimal colony formation of the different progenitor cells for simplified separation and identification. For differentiation of the stem cells further cytokines must be added.

Applications

  • Growth and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells
  • Growth of embryonic stem cells
  • Differentiation and characterization of stem cell progenitors

Features

  • Aqueous gelling agent
  • Good optical clarity
  • Easy visualisation
  • Formation and isolation of distinct colonies

Composition

MethoStem Medium consists of a modified IMDM medium containing 1.8 % methylcellulose, BSA, 2-Mercaptoethanol and L-glutamine. MethoStem is a basal medium where additional components, such as FBS (10-30%), cytokines and additional IMDM, must be added to get a final concentration of approximately 0.9% methylcellulose.
