In industrial applications, the use of serum presents a safety hazard as well as a source of unwanted contamination for the production of biopharmaceuticals. For all these reasons, there is considerable pressure from regulatory agencies to avoid the use of serum and move to consistent, defined substitutes. Often the use of serum free media is associated with poor cell proliferation and low production yields.

Lipumin ADCF is a chemically defined supplement with growth promoting activities similar to FBS. It supports the production of recombinant proteins, monoclonal antibodies and viruses for vaccine production in bioreactors. In serum reduced cell culture Lipumin ADCF can be used as growth enhancer.
