Hybridoma cells result from fusion of an antibody producing B-cell from the immune system with a tumor cell. Hybridoma cells are used for production of monoclonal antibodies. To support the hybridoma development and achieve an optimal cell density and cloning efficiency growth factors and serum (10-20%) are required.
Hybridoma Cloning Supplement is the first completely defined growth promoting supplement especially for hybridoma cells. As culture media supplement HCS supports the growth of hybridoma cells in a manner feeder cells have been used before. The disadvantages occurring by the use of feeder cells might be: overgrowth of newly formed hybridomas; source of contamination; competition for nutrients; variations in growth factor concentration.
Hybridoma Cloning Supplement can be used in the culture medium under serum free conditions. The low protein content of HCS facilitates the isolation and purification of produced antibodies.
HCS contains Insulin, Hydrocortisone, Ethanolamin, Linoleic acid, Retinoic acid and other growth promoting factors.
