Cat. No. Volume
Blasticidin P05-017 50 mg
  P11-017 100 mg

General

Blasticidin is a peptidyl nucleoside antibiotic used for selection of cells expressing the bsr gene. The antibiotic is active against many bacteria, yeast and animal cells by interfering with the peptide bound formation in the ribosomal machinery of prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Resistance to blasticidin is conferred by the blasticidin resistence gene bsr which codes for blasticidin deaminase.

Applications

  • Selection antibiotic used in transfection
  • Inactivation of blasticidin with acetyl transferase and deaminases
  • Cells transfected with plasmids carrying the pac, bls, bsr and bsd genes are resistant against ¬blasticidin
